Did you know this generation is the MOST photographed- but social media feeds are the only thing to show for it. Okay- that may be a little harsh! But there are so many ways to share your senior photos that have nothing to do with social media!
It’s normal when I sit down for an ordering appointment that my seniors are most often thinking about which images they want to post for Senior Sunday. However, MY goal for each session is to create imagery that becomes art on your walls and keepsakes in your home.
I imagine my seniors 15 years from now lugging suitcases and children to visit grandparents for the weekend and chubby little fingers asking to look at Mommy’s book and sleepily saying “Mommy” as they are carried upstairs to sleep.
These moments are so easy to visualize because I pulled my mom’s scrapbooks out of the closet at my Mimi’s visit after visit to learn who she was then. And as I toted my own children up the stairs past my senior portrait on each visit they would reach their little arms out saying “Mommy!” as we walked.
My TOP 5 suggestions to share your senior photos
The one we all saw coming: Luxe Albums!
I was a scrapbooker for most of my life. When digital scrapbooks came into the picture I picked those up, too! Which is probably why my very favorite way to share your senior photos is with an album. These albums look beautiful displayed on a coffee table or stacked on a bookshelf. But the best part is that your senior photos are always at the tip of your fingers, preserved and waiting to be opened and enjoyed.
The smart one: Framed prints
There is actual data to back up the fact that kids feel a deeper sense of belonging when their photographs are displayed in their home. That’s not why I love having framed photos on my wall- but it sure does justify the nail holes.
Whether you love a meticulously laid out gallery wall, prefer a more eclectic style, the options for incorporating framed photos into your home are endless.
The nostalgic one: Custom image boxes
I have a shoe-box sized container with lady bugs on it that lived under my bed all of high school. Inside you will find gameday ribbons, photographs, notes passed with friends, movie stubs and concert tickets. Which is why I love the image boxes! They are beautiful (and fun!) enough to set out as decor in your home- but they are also the perfect size to slip tokens of memorabilia you hope to hang onto after high school.
The one that needs no introductions: Gallery Wraps
Classic and timeless. That’s how I feel about a gallery wrap! They are perfect for making a statement alone or placed into groups.
The senior favorite: Storyboards
In my room at my parents’ house there are 20×24 frames with 3 circular photos cut into a mat. Inside are 3 separate images of yours truly at 2 years old. If you have ever heard of Olan Mills you can picture this display. Storyboards are a more modern take on the vintage Olan Mills collages. These are super popular with seniors because of the ability to showcase an entire session in one piece of art.
