The Bittle Family Portrait Session – Berry College

Feb 21, 2019

You know what I love? When I finish a sessions and I can’t stop looking through the gallery and smiling back at my friends in the portraits. And this session puts a grin on my face every time I look at it!

I mean- how can you look at these two giggling and laughing at each other and not smile right back at them? There are times you would say it’s just for the camera but this is not that case. The baby was not-so-thrilled, it was freezing… still they were laughing and joking. It’s just how they approach life together.

That beautiful blonde, Laura, was one of my very first friends when I moved to town. We met at CrossFit and became fast friends due to our love for Pumpkin beer, exercise…. and the fact that we had no other friends. She was among the  first to hold each of my children and has stepped in on some of my hardest days with hugs for me and bright smiles for my kids. She also ALWAYS notices my eyebrows so I try really hard to make sure they are in good shape any time I see her. Laura does friendship the way it is meant to be done, but the way few are able to pull it off.

And Grant is her perfect match. He is loyal and comforting, level-headed in crisis, and always eager to hold a baby when you toss one his way. I’ve spent many nights listening to his parenting theories and just as many giggling at the reality to come.  I feel a little bad sticking my camera in his face whenever I see him because portrait sessions are not his favorite way to spend an evening. But he loves Laura so he tolerates me.

I never doubted Laura and Grant would be amazing parents, but it’s so fun to actually see it in action. Laura is basically SuperMom and went back to school when her sweet baby girl was less than a month old and was back to crushing me at CrossFit by 12 weeks postpartum. She has any number of great excuses to stop being an invested friend, but of course, she hasn’t. She still remembers my kids’ birthdays and tries to come to their dance recitals (even when I forget to tell her where to go!) and finds the largest gifts to fill my house with. Grant is the doting father that loves to snuggle his baby girl and is finally able to put all his parenting theories into action.

Mother Teresa is quoted as saying, “If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family”, and it makes me think of Laura, Grant, and Ely every time. This little girl will make the world a better place because of the examples of exceptional love and relationship she sees every day in her own home. I adore these people and I am so thankful to learn from them and live life with them.

Tell me about your people! Who is in your life that shows love in a way that is profound and unique? I want to hear about them—- and who knows? There may be a FREE mini-session with their name on it!
