One of the first conversations I have with any senior I’m photographing: tell me your dream senior session. It’s on the initial prebooking consult form, we talk about it on the call and you’ll see it again in your pre-session questionnaire.
How to plan a Dream Senior Session
My goal is to make that dream senior session become a reality. Sometimes very literally and other times we take elements of the session and incorporate them to tell your story.
Madi Jo had a few dream ideas and we were able to create a completely unique to MJ session that shared her love of fashion, the Braves and fairytales. She and her mom were very intentional and detailed while styling and planning her session. They invested in professional hair and makeup. We discussed multiple outfits and various locations and timelines to ensure the best light.
Fairytale themed Senior session
Even still we were all scrambling leading up to her session because the dress Madi Jo rented and planned the first part of her session around was behind on shipping and was an unknown until the day of the session. We were reaching out to so many contacts for possible substitutes. But like a true fairytale the dress arrived just in time. It was perfect on Madi Jo and perfect for the Calhoun Rock Garden.
If you’ve ever contemplated a princess senior session- here’s the proof that it’s worth it to rent the dress and buy the flower crown.
Atlanta Braves Senior Session
Next stop: the Rome Braves stadium. Madi Jo is an avid Braves fan and works for the Rome Braves during the season. She completely switched it up and took on a more flirty and sporty look for her senior pictures using bell bottoms and a vintage Braves jersey that I died over. The Rome Braves and Atlanta Braves are a huge part of her story filled with work friendships, memories of games with her dad and (of course!) World Series wins!!!!
Taylor Swift inspired senior pictures
The third outfit for senior pictures was somewhere between feminine and sassy and gave serious Taylor Swift vibes. We used an area near my studio that is often overlooked but if the sun is out I know it’s going to create the most stunning light. If you’ve read many blogs about how I choose locations you know finding the right light is the most important part of my location formula. We can have the MOST epic location but if the light is harsh or really dark- the pictures will be lackluster. I love how the light played with her sequins here to give us dancing, shimmering light all around Madi Jo’s bright blue eyes. (Also- that shirt looked amazing with her eyes!!!!)
Elevate
Finally- we finished Madi Jo’s session at sunset in front of the fountains at Towne Greene. It was a little chilly and Madi Jo had a ballgame to go to so we opted not to go all in but I love how fun and playful these senior pictures turned out. She went with an elevated look for this segment that was a great way to round out the various styles she incorporated into her senior session.

[…] A great senior session requires planning…shopping, coordinating dates, planning your locations and props. Booking early lets you get a head start on all this! This is the FUN part of senior year and we want it to be STRESS FREE, but part of that takes planning and organization {don’t worry, this is where I come in}- BUT you need the time to get it done! I can do a lot, but I cannot add more hours in the day {I wish}! […]
